John 6:29 "Believe in him whom God has sent, and that is the work of God."

What must I do to do the works of God? Don't we too often wonder what we must do to be saved and kept in eternal life? To this Jesus replied that we must believe in the one whom God has sent, that is, we must believe in Jesus.

Jesus died on the cross and rose again to free us from sin and give us new life. It is impossible for us to do anything worthy of that. And God never asks anything of us in return.

God only wants us to know and believe in what Jesus, who was sent from heaven to restore us, has done.

Even our believing is God's work. (It is the working of the Holy Spirit in our hearts) Knowing God, Believing God, and Accepting God is the work of God inside the heart of a sinner. A sinner does not have any capacity to do anything of these.

With this world's common sense and values, this would be taken as unbelievable and impossible. God's ways are impossible ways in this world.

Once you know Jesus and your heart's needle is tilted toward Him, even just a little bit, God's work will flow in and lead you to believe in Him.

After that, God will do everything. All we have to do is accept it. Belief is the only door through which God's wonderful work can work freely.

God is waiting for us to open that door.
