Matthew 13:44 "The Kingdom of Heaven is likened as follows. A treasure is hidden in a field. Whoever finds it will keep it hidden and .... He sells all his possessions and buys the field."
Have you ever found enough treasure to sell everything to get it? The Kingdom of Heaven is likened to that. So what is the Kingdom of Heaven like? I am sure there are many imaginations going around in our heads, but the Kingdom of Heaven is a place where we are with God, a place where we are one with God.
So, what is God like? If this is unclear, we may not be so happy when we go to the Kingdom of Heaven because, in Heaven, the best thing that will happen is to be with God forever and face to face.
If we can know what kind of God God is through the Bible, I am confident that we are tasting the Kingdom of Heaven at that moment. When you meet God in your heart, it is truly a taste of heaven.
Also, the more we know who God is, the treasures of this world will become smaller in our eyes. If we have not truly known and accepted God as who He is, we will inevitably try to fill our needs with other things.
This is like knowing there is a hidden treasure but not looking for it, and being satisfied with collecting pretty stones that we can see. Spiritual treasure hunting is not something that someone else can do for us or even we can do ourselves. Spiritual treasure hunting with God is totally different, we actually don't seek the treasure. God positions the treasure so we really can find it. God actually shows Himself so we find Him as our truest treasure.
However, If we don't really know the value of the treasure, we are satisfied with substitutes and sadly the substitute treasures do not give true satisfaction. No matter how hard we worked to find the treasure, when it's only a substitute one it won't give us real joy.
The more we know what God is like the more we want to accept God, as our only treasure. We will look at God as an irreplaceable treasure. This is our joy and our hope.
When we truly find God as the God of boundless, limitless, and unconditional love, all else will be of no value, forsaking all else, is not a sacrifice, but rather pure joy!
God promised that He will always position Himself so you find Him!
