Matthew 14:29 Jesus said, "Come," so Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water, and proceeded toward Jesus.

When Jesus told Peter to come, Peter obeyed. There is trust behind obedience, isn't there?

Peter could walk on the water because he believed in Jesus. But when he turned his eyes to his reality, he began to sink. Our faith is a gift from God. When our eyes are on God and God's reality, we can believe. But when our eyes are on something else or this world's reality, we start thinking with what we see instead of God.

What we see in this world is a trick against us who live in this world under the influence of sin. Wherever we put our eyes on in this world, in our reality, no matter how good and promising it is, it will always will sink us down to the dark pit of life.

Even we, as Christians under the influence of sin, can easily lose faith in Jesus when we take our eyes off Him. At such times, Jesus calls out to us, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt? This is NOT a rebuke, but a gentle reminder, " I AM HERE (but a wake up call on who we truly are of no faith and yet HE REMAINS AVAILABLE). In this world, we can and do see many things, but it is only in Jesus we remain strong and afloat.

Our hearts are shaken by the waves of this life. When our hearts get seasick, let us remember that Jesus is calling to us and let us return to Him. Today, the Sabbath, walk on the water with Jesus.

If Jesus wanted Peter, He also wants you! Jesus wanted you who is inconsistent and who is always looking into our realities in this world. We may be weak like Peter but God wanted us not for who we are now but for who we really are in His heart, we are, like Peter, is God's child.
