John 18:11 Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword in the sheath. Put the sword in its sheath. The cup which the Father has given you, should you not drink from it?"
This is what Jesus said after Peter cut off his enemy's ear when Jesus was betrayed by Judas. Jesus then restored the severed ear. How did Peter receive such a Jesus?
He was trying to help Jesus, but Jesus told him to do the opposite. But I don't think Peter understood what he was being told.
After this, he was made aware of his true self through his own failures. In such a situation, can we also face up to who we are? Can we face our weaknesses, shortcomings, false sense of justice, and unfocused good intentions?
If we are denied what we have done for the best, we will probably become emotionally upset.
Jesus is NOT accusing us. Jesus does NOT condemn us, but rather, He makes us see things as they really are. He accepts us as we are. He gives us another chance, even if we don't recognize it at the time.
And when we realize Jesus' extraordinary and generous grace, we will want to praise him.
God will let us into his love, forgiveness, and mercy wherever we go. It is also placing us in God's patience and forbearance. This is the amazing grace!
I pray that you will be touched by God's amazing grace on Sabbath. Shalom!
