Luke 1:38 "I am the Lord's handmaid. May it be done to me according to your word."
Mary was a virgin, but when an angel told her that she would supernaturally conceive the Son of God, she surrendered herself to the plan without fully understanding it.
Why did Mary surrender? We tend not to respond unless we understand and agree. But God's plan cannot be fully understood by even the most intelligent person. If we don't understand and are not convinced, how can we believe?
I believe that Mary understood and accepted in her own way who she was and who God was.
We do not know God as well as we think we do and we don't know who we really are as well as we think we do. We are living in our own delusion.
How could God, who risked His life for us, do anything to confuse us?
Would a God who has always poured out His unconditional love to us deceive us?
The more we learn about who God is in our daily lives, the more we can trust in Himself, even if we don't fully understand each of His plans. This is the faith that is given to us. And God is working a miracle in our hearts that we can believe in Him!
