Luke 1:13 "Do not be afraid...Your request has been heard."
Zachariah's wife Elizabeth was barren. They had probably prayed for decades to be given a son. At his advanced age, Zachariah may have perhaps given up on his hope of having a son.
Even if we give up, God does not. God responds to us in His timing, in His way, and as His best. We only make short-sighted wishes, but God shows us greater and immeasurable works.
Zachariah was given a son, who would become John the Baptist, the forerunner of the Messiah. God is able to do far more than we can imagine. He is always thinking about our redemption. God has not given up on us, even on our smallest thoughts and prayers that we have given up on. And God responds to us at the best time and in the best way in God's plan!
