John 18:37,38 I was born to testify about the truth, and that is why I came into the world.Everyone who belongs to the truth hears my voice."....What is truth?"
John portrays truth as the essence of Jesus himself. The devil, on the other hand, is described as the ultimate liar. Satan lied to Adam and Eve that there would be no bad consequences for not obeying God. Satan also lied that we can earn salvation through good works and lineage. Satan also lied that we are so sinful that there is no more salvation.
Jesus, on the other hand, came into the world to restore us from being held back by Satan's lies. He freed us from Satan's lies and brought us from a situation where we could not use our free will to a situation where we can use our free will.
Those who accept Jesus with their free will will hear His voice.Good deeds and lineage have nothing to do with accepting Jesus. Our degree of sin does not cause Jesus to reject us at all. We were simply influenced by Satan's lies and placed in a situation where Satan controlled our thinking and our choices. Jesus has delivered us from that situation.
The truth, the truth is Jesus alone. We can choose to know who Jesus is, what He has done for us, and what He will do for us. And those who choose Jesus can hear His voice. This is God's promise to us, and our Jesus is the one who will faithfully keep that promise!
