Matthew 7:8 Whoever asks will receive, and whoever searches will find, and to him who knocks at the gate will it be opened."
The Greek words "seek, find, and knock" seem to imply continuous and constant action. If we are seeking God but not receiving, don't we often give up, saying, "I can't receive because I am such and such?
To continue to seek means to continue to believe in God and not to doubt Him. Even if we are seeking our own interests, God will never condemn us for it or deny that it is wrong. But God gives us more than we want. It is something we don't realize we need, but we really do.
God looks at what is in our hearts specifically asking us, "What do you want me to do? Whatever it is, I feel that the deeper our relationship with God, the more we change what we want from Him.
I believe that God is changing us so that we can honestly want to receive what He thinks is best for us. God knows what is best for us, not ourselves! So we are being brought closer to God by continuing to boldly seek Him!
