Luke 9:30,31 "Moses and Elijah... . appeared in glory, talking about the end Jesus was going to accomplish in Jerusalem."

On the Mount of Transfiguration, Moses and Elijah were apparently discussing Jesus' death. The literal translation from the Greek is, "Behold, two men, Moses and Elijah, were talking with Jesus. They appeared in glory and were talking about the Exodus, which Jesus was going to fulfill in Jerusalem.

Jesus has chosen to die in order to help us escape from this world that is Babylon. Just as the blood of the Passover lamb applied to the door of the Hebrews saved them from death, so death will pass away for those who believe in Jesus' death as our salvation. Not by our good works or our many prayers and services, but by Jesus' death we are bought back, our free will is restored, and by His righteousness we are also justified and reborn as children of God.

We do not know how Moses and Elijah spoke about Jesus' death, but I believe that they were not grieving over his death, but rather that there is hope beyond Jesus' death like never before. We have so much to bear in the reality of this world, but Jesus has already bought us back from that reality. If we believe in Jesus' death, then death (eternal death) has passed for us. All we have to do is wait for Jesus to come to us. Let us confirm this on this Sabbath and rejoice in that certainty!
