Matthew 17:5 "This is my beloved Son .... Listen to Him."
Jesus took only Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, where He began to change in appearance and appeared glowing. Then the disciples saw Moses and Elijah appear and talk with Jesus.
Peter was moved and excited and talked to Jesus about building a temple there. Then God the Father interrupted him and said these words. God the Father said, "Jesus is my beloved Son." God the Father showed us who Jesus is like. Here also God the Father's plan of salvation was presented. God showed us in a way that we can understand who He is, what He has done, and what He will do. God had shown us so that we can know right away if we ask who and what Jesus does.
God's plan is to take us back and live with us. He makes us God's children through Jesus. We too will be called "My beloved children" by God, as Jesus said. We can be children of God not because of our efforts or achievements but because of Jesus' sacrifice. God makes us His beloved children simply by believing and accepting it. We are covered by Jesus and made righteous.
God always shows us who He is and what He has planned for us and encourages us before we get into a situation that makes us anxious. We are already God's beloved children. Let us rejoice in that more than Peter did!
