Matthew 23:37 How many times have I tried to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings? But you have refused to respond."
Jesus is doing all His work to bring us together, to vindicate us in order to fulfill God's plan of salvation for mankind. His work is not in the way of condemning, hunting us down, or punishing us, but in the way of forgiving, accepting, loving, and encouraging us in all our circumstances.
Just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings to protect and nurture them, so Jesus always places us under the shadow of His wings and seeks to nurture us in His security, safety, and mercy. But man has refused to believe and accept it. What was Jesus going to say after these words? Did he say, "Therefore I do not know you"?
Jesus would never say such a thing! He never says that! "You did not respond, but I will never give up on you. I will get you back. I will never give up on you. I will get you back, and I will continue to do everything I can to make you come to me willingly," Jesus says. We can come to Jesus as we are, imperfect and unbelieving. Jesus is waiting for us to come to Him as we are, with nothing!
