Luke 4:18,19 'To set free those who are oppressed, and to proclaim the year of the Lord's grace.'
This is a continuation of the words of yesterday's scripture, which Jesus read from Isaiah in the local synagogue.
The year of the Lord's grace is a year of grace in which every 50 years all slaves are freed, all debts are canceled, and all property is returned to its original owners, which is written in Leviticus 25:10.
This year of the Lord's grace the slaves are freed not because they worked hard or worked themselves to death to pay their debts.
It is due solely to God's grace!
Grace is grace because it is received by those who do not deserve it, and if we are worthy to give it, it is not grace, but reward.
We may have false values, distorted common sense, and misaligned perceptions of God that are the product of the effects of sin.
Such burdens paralyze us and prevent us from living a purposeful life for the glory of God.
Jesus took our burdens to the cross so that we can live an abundant life. We don't have to work hard to become good Christians in order to have freedom.
There is only one thing to do! All we have to do is receive Jesus' grace! Jesus will finish the rest for us. Only Jesus can free us from the things that bind us to ourselves.
Don't hesitate to receive it boldly:
