Matthew 3:15 "It is fitting for us to do all that is right."

When Jesus was about to be baptized by John the Baptist, John tried to stop him, but Jesus said this after the words, "Do not stop me now." Jesus was baptized not because he had sin, but because he was our representative and substitute.

Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets through His perfect life, death, and resurrection as our substitute (see Matthew 5:17).

It is not our righteousness that guarantees our salvation, but Jesus' righteousness. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, His righteousness covers us.We are unrighteous, but God our Heavenly Father makes us righteous through Jesus' righteousness.

We are righteous because Jesus covers us, not because we ourselves are righteous. Even if we are bad, weak, or rebellious, if we accept Jesus as our Savior and believe in Him, we are justified by Jesus.

This is "righteousness by faith," or "the righteousness of God given to all who believe in Jesus Christ. And this is God's gift to those who believe!
