John 21:4 When it was already daybreak, Jesus was standing on the shore, but the disciples did not recognize Him. But the disciples did not recognize Him."
After Jesus' crucifixion, the disciples may have been discouraged and returned to their original work, trying to regain their bearings. It was at this point that Jesus approached the disciples. The disciples had no idea that the crucified Jesus was here, so they did not realize that the one who approached them was Jesus.
I think we, too, are sometimes disheartened because we don't recognize Jesus who is always there for us. But Jesus is with us everywhere, at all times, encouraging us. We are not alone. Jesus is always with us. Jesus shows himself to us in a way that we can understand.
When our (Spiritual) eyes are opened, we can see, talk to, and touch Jesus who is right beside us. The eyes of our faith are opened when we believe and accept the promise that Jesus is always with us. Jesus comes to us. All we have to do is respond to His invitation of love. All we have to do is receive it. There is surprise, joy, and peace waiting for us.
