1 Samuel 18:7  The women took up their instruments and sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands."

The women of Israel welcomed David, who had defeated Goliath and returned victorious over the Philistine army, with song and dance, instruments in hand.

This song, composed in parallelism, extolled David's achievements as vastly superior to those of Saul, the king.

It became the catalyst for Saul, previously God's chosen leader, to be ensnared by human comparison and jealousy, leading him towards ruin.

Our actions and words are perceived not only by God, but also by people we may not even be aware of.

While it is not good for us to boast of our own achievements, our accomplishments are evaluated not by ourselves but by those around us. If we remain faithful to God's calling, He will ensure these are accepted through others, trust will take root there, and then God will guide those people through us.

All is part of God's providence; He guides us so that Saul's heart, which craved praise, is revealed as dominating his actions and thoughts.

We are not called to strive to avoid such a heart, but rather, when it is exposed, we stand at a crossroads: either we humbly acknowledge it and return to God, or we cling to our old selves. God persistently works within us, urging us to choose the path of returning to Him.
