Numbers 13:33 "We saw ourselves as small as locusts, and it must have seemed so in their eyes."
When we are placed in an environment of anxiety and tension, we see the facts not as facts, but only through an anxiety filter.
We tend to feel victimhood, disappointment, despair, and a loss of God's promises and presence.
Most of those who went to Canaan to scout the land felt that they could not win.
When we are told through such a filter, what we hear is also received through such a filter.
God tells us not to look at what is in front of us, but to look at Himself.
When we take our eyes off God, we are drawn into anxiety and fear.
At times like this, having someone who can see the complete opposite can open our eyes to the world around us.
Joshua and Caleb recognized the land of Canaan as a good land and declared that they should not be afraid because the Lord was with them.
We are swayed more by what we see than by God's promises.
If we can realize this and choose not to rely on our own strength, we will see that God is with us and that He will fight for us.
Let us choose to take our weaknesses, insecurities, and tensions to God and surrender them.
God will surely give us peace and hope.
