Psalm 118:22 "The stone from which the builder of the house retreated became the parent stone of the corner."
We build up the fruit of our lives in our own strength. We try to act only in our own strength.
And we are the ones who try to earn even salvation in our own strength.
God clearly declares that there is nothing good in us.
Good things come from outside of us, from things that the world does not even value.
For the believer, Christ is the cornerstone on which he stands firm.
We must replace all our foundations.
To build our faith on our present foundation is like a foolish man building a house on sand.
We need to make all our foundations the foundation of Christ.
It is like building a house on a rock, so that it can stand firm and not be shaken by various events.
But it is through our faith and obedience to Christ that this is accomplished.
We become closer to God by repeatedly falling on Christ the Rock, abandoning our own thoughts of righteousness, coming to Him with childlike humility, repenting of our sins and guilt, and believing in His forgiving love.
And we are surely led to entrust and surrender everything to Christ, not our thoughts, wishes, and efforts.
To this end, we ask God to break us in our daily lives, and we ask and entrust ourselves to Him so that we can build our faith on Christ.
God is looking for our contrite hearts more than our good deeds.
He hears every single one of our groans.
