Matthew 26:39 "Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. But not as I wish, but as Thy will be done."
Jesus offered this prayer with the sweat of His blood before He went to the cross.
Although Jesus was well aware of his role as the fulfillment of God the Father's plan of salvation, it was an unacceptable suffering for him as he became a human being separated from God.
Just because Jesus became the Son of Man from God did not mean that he would not suffer.
He would have wanted God the Father in Heaven to be with him because he could suffer all that we go through.
But Jesus did not seek His own hope or needs for our salvation.
That was Jesus' own choice as a human being.
We may not choose God's way even though we know it, but we are choosing our own desires and ego, and only when we are shown the results of our choice do we realize that we have not chosen Jesus.
Then we judge ourselves and torment ourselves, but Jesus even took that torment on our behalf.
Jesus' death frees us, restores our freedom of choice, and gives us the joy of salvation.
Death is not sad, but a power spot that leads to re-creation, hope, light, and the path to Christ.
We are transformed by looking up to Jesus on the cross.
