Daniel 5:25 "Mene, mene, tekel, and parshin."

This means "You were weighed and found wanting" and was God's message that "Belshazzar's kingdom Babylon would be given to Media and Persia".

Belshazzar's father, Nebuchadnezzar, had been shown a series of events, including the prophecy God had shown him when he was king, and how God had caused Nebuchadnezzar to fall into a beastly state by forcing him to resist the prophecy and make and worship golden images, and how God had restored Nebuchadnezzar when he looked up to God. Despite knowing this, he chose 'pride' and 'licentiousness'.

God wants us to repent and return to Him even in these circumstances.

Belshazzar ignored God's yellow card as well, and so he went on to perdition.

God never speaks words like this scripture to those of us who believe in Him.

But if we say we believe and follow God, but do not put ourselves first or let go of envy and pride, God may give us a yellow card to remind us.

But it is not to present us with an end result, but a warning to make us realise our present situation, turn around and walk with God.

Satan takes advantage of this warning to whisper to us.

You are not good enough to go to heaven. There is no more salvation for you."

Let us not be deceived by these whispers of Satan, but hang on to God's promises.

And we need to shout to ourselves that God will never abandon us.

We must remember that "the arm of Christ is stretched out to the very depths of human suffering and depravity"
