Luke 10:34 "He went up to him, poured oil and wine on his wounds, bandaged them, put him on his own ass, took him to an inn and cared for him."
We know that helping others is a good thing, and we want to help others as much as we can.
But we sometimes get confused about how far we should go to help people.
We have a heart to do good, but we also have a heart to protect ourselves.
We wish we could do as the Samaritan did, but we are even resistant to sacrifice and help beyond what is acceptable.
Jesus approached us, healed our wounds, treated us and gave us a place to rest. Not only that, but Jesus sacrificed his life so that we could be born again.
We are made alive on the basis of Jesus' sacrifice.
Jesus wants us to do unto others as he has done unto us.
We may not be able to do as the Samaritan did, but we can pray intercessory prayers.
And from that prayer, we will be moved by God.
