Matthew 2:1,2 “Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod. At that time astrologers came to Jerusalem from the east, saying. Where is He who was born King of the Jews? We have come to worship Him because we have seen His star in the east."
The Gospel of Matthew tells of the wise men from the East who came to worship the newborn King, Jesus Christ.
It says that although they did not officially belong to God's people, they studied the Hebrew Scriptures and realized that the time had come for the Messiah to appear.
God's work is to open their eyes and enable them to follow His guidance, whether they are His people or not, if their hearts are receptive to the work of the Holy Spirit.
Then we too can discover God's promises to us personally in the Bible, find His unconditional love, and realize that we are alive in His grace.
We can pray to God even if we cannot read the Bible every day. We can pray to God anytime, anywhere, for anything.
Prayer is not something to wish for, but something that deepens our relationship with God and brings us closer to His will.
Just as the scholars of the East were led by the stars, God is surely leading us.
We should pray every day that we will be able to recognize and follow God's guidance.
