Revelation 6:12 “And I looked, and behold, the Lamb opened the sixth seal, and I saw that it was a great earthquake. Then came a great earthquake."

In the Bible, one of the signs of the approaching Second Coming is a serious natural disaster.

Seventh-day Adventists see this prophecy fulfilled in the terrible earthquake that struck Lisbon on Saturday morning, November 1, 1755.

We have no way to verify this, but since we are told that neither Jesus nor the angels know when the Second Coming will be, it is up to us to be prepared for it.

The question is, what should we be prepared for?

We are now walking in a deeper relationship with God.

Before the Second Coming, we may feel as if God's protection is gone, we may feel as if God has abandoned us, and we may not be in the peaceful and safe environment we have been in.

At such times, we want to be those of us who can still have the faith to choose God's promises, even if we ourselves do not feel it and even if our ability to believe is weakened.

To do this, we must meet, talk, fellowship, and relate to God as individuals, be filled with His love, be convinced of Him, be led to believe in Him, and follow through.

God will never give up on us or forsake us, but we may be left standing alone in the storm. We may come to a situation where no one will guide us or protect us.

At that time, we are to take the winds of the storm with the provision of "our relationship with our God."

God promised to be responsible for what ultimately happens to us in the allowance of our choice of Him.

It is only a matter of how much trust we have with God by virtue of our relationship with Him.

In the end, no matter what state we are in, we are promised that Jesus will come for us and we will rejoice to be reunited with God and His family!
