Revelation 10:10 “I received the little scroll from the angel's hand, and I ate it up. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I ate it, my belly became bitter."
This is said to be a prophecy of great disappointment to the Millerites.
God knows both our human weakness and our pride, and this disappointment feels to me like a disappointment of His providence and grace.
When things happen better than we can imagine, we expect better things to happen next time. Our expectations and desires grow so great that we forget God.
And we start to live according to our feelings and desires instead of thinking.
God, who knows us well, has given us the grace of disappointment.
When we are shown a completely different reality, we may feel depressed, but we seriously think about what went wrong and what we should do from that time on. At that time, we know our limitations and focus our efforts on turning to God and surrendering to Him.
I feel that God shows us that whatever is sweet or bitter is given to us is not without Him, and that they are all blessings because of His presence, not trials, but blessings that confirm and assure us that we are with God and God is with us.
We don't know all of God's plans, but even if we don't know, God is a God who never abandons us and never gives up on us. God is our Father and we are His children.
