Mark 1:41,42 “Jesus, deeply compassionate, reached out his hand and touched the man, saying, "Good, be clean. Be clean." Immediately the serious skin disease went away and the man became clean.
Jesus knows and sympathizes with all our suffering and sorrow.
This must be compassion.
That alone is enough for us to feel that we are not alone, but at peace with the One who is with us.
But Jesus does more than that; he reaches out and touches us.
When we have to deal with someone, our priority is to protect ourselves, and we do so unconsciously.
We are more concerned with ourselves than with the other person, trying not to get ourselves hurt or to be seen as bad by the world by breaking the rules rather than the needs of the other person.
Jesus has compassion for the other person and expresses that compassion in action.
It is a miracle of God's power that the serious skin disease went away, but to reach out and touch the other person is God's character and God himself.
Jesus' touch is also a miracle of God's power, but God's power will work in our hearts through God's character, which will then travel through our bodies and affect the outside of our bodies.
We are healed, given peace, and made clean because we are able to touch God himself, and because we are touched and filled with his character.
We thank God from the bottom of our hearts for His mercy and praise Him with all our might!
