Luke 23:54-56

"54 It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment."

The Sabbath was instituted by God for mankind.

We stop all our daily work and spend time and space with God.

The day before the Sabbath is a day of preparation.

I think I was taught in church that the day of preparation was a day to clean the house and get it ready to receive God. I also felt that it was also a way of preparing myself to look back on the week and see what God has done for me.

Then, "On the Sabbath the women rested," and I believe that resting does not mean doing nothing, but rather stopping the flow of daily life and "entering into the flow of God's world," which includes helping someone, healing someone, and sharing about God.

As we share our respective faith walks together, we can better understand how God is working in our lives.

The Sabbath is a time when we rejoice in God, enjoy God, and spend as much time as we want with God in God's realm. That is why the Sabbath is sanctified.

And our remaining six days may be a time of preparation for our walk of faith so that we can spend the Sabbath day as a Sabbath day.
