James 1:22 “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. Do not be one who deceives himself and ends up only hearing."
These words are not Jame's "command" but "a way to experience the power of the salvation of the soul."
After saying, "The Word has power to save your souls," James then delivers today's words.
While "deeds" are not a requirement for blessing, the Bible also teaches that "if we do the Word, we will be richly blessed by God."
The phrase "do the Word and you will be blessed" does not mean that we "enter into a relationship with God by our deeds," but rather that we "deepen in love the relationship we have already established.
No matter who we are or what our circumstances are, a gracious God will help us to do His Word and make us people of love. Therefore, what we need to do is to believe and pray, thanking God that He loves us as we are, even though we cannot do it, and asking Him to help us keep His Word.
Give up on yourself as soon as possible. It's okay to say, "I can't do it. This faith will enable us to do the Word of God.
