Proverbs 22:6 “Educate the young in the beginning of the way they should go, and when they are old they will not turn from it. And when he is old, he will not turn from it."
We know that education is important.
Parents often have the illusion that teaching their children a code of conduct is the way to educate them.
Even if we believe in God, we must admit that we are imperfect, and that imperfect people educate more imperfect people.
When I looked up the word "education" in the dictionary, I found that it means "to work deliberately and systematically, both mentally and physically, to transform a person into a desirable form.
The direction will change depending on what kind of "desirable image" the teacher focuses on.
Even in Christian education, the direction will change depending on the image of the "God" of the teacher.
Before we are taught right and wrong, we need to be guided by what kind of God is and what kind of people we are, and we need to use our ability to think in all directions and make our own choices.
God has given us the ability to think and to make choices. Without knowing "what kind of person God is" and "what kind of person human beings are," which are the criteria for utilizing these abilities, I feel that we will be lost as to how to utilize the abilities God has given us.
Our "guide" is God. God turns our failures into seeds of awareness and our mistakes into tools to correct our orientation toward Him.
And our "finisher" is not ourselves but God Himself.
We learn a lot from God's practical training in our casual, daily lives. This is how God has been and is still working to educate us.
We are led to the path of growth by receiving it.
