John 5:39 “You study the Scriptures, thinking that in them you have eternal life. But the Bible testifies about Me."

I believe that in the beginning we have studied the Bible to know God. But perhaps the more we studied the Bible, the more our studies were transformed to focus on what salvation is, whether we can be saved, and how we can be saved.

This world of sin is a value system where we are the best. If we study the Bible with that value system, we will only be able to study the Bible with a focus on ourselves.

Eternal life means "being with God." True Bible study is to know who God is with us, what His character is like, what He has done for us, and what He will do for us.

It is not the Bible that describes how we will live forever; it is the Bible that describes who He is who will be with us forever.

We know from the Bible who God is, and our choice to live with him leads to eternal life.

The focus of the Bible is not on "us" but on God Himself.

Just as we want to know a lot about our loved ones in this life, and the more we know, the more we want to love them, so the Bible is there to help us know more and more about God, and the Bible is God's love letter to us.

God's unconditional love is everywhere in the Bible. If we read the Bible with a renewed focus on "who God is," we will discover many things about God's love that we had not noticed before. And by receiving God's love without omission, we will be kept alive in God's love.
