Gospel Reflections #419: God will remain faithful

2 Kings 20:20 Hezekiah's other accomplishments, including the building of a cistern and waterworks to supply the city, are recorded in the "Chronicles of the Kings of Judah."

Since the days of David, in a time of treachery and disappointment, no king has done more for the building of God's Kingdom than Hezekiah. The dying king served God faithfully and strengthened the people's confidence in the Lord as their supreme ruler.

Hezekiah had his life extended by God and was shown the signs he requested.

A visitor from a distant land gave Hezekiah "an opportunity to praise the living God," but he was caught up in "pride and vanity," and Hezekiah was so good at opening and showing all the treasures of God's people that God had given him before the eyes of greedy people.

Hezekiah did this not to "bring glory to God," but to "exalt himself" before foreign visitors.

We may have made many historical achievements for God, but when we begin to see ourselves instead of God, we are separated from God.

Achievements like Hezekiah's are not valued in regard to God's salvation. The only thing that is valued is our humble heart, our faith that keeps our eyes on God.

And God has noticed both Hezekiah and us, correcting our steps.

No matter how many times we fail, God is still working in us.

We should be aware of God's work.
