Gospel Reflections #406: God is our guide and our finisher.

1 Peter 4:19 “Therefore, whoever suffers according to the will of God, let him continue to do good, yielding his soul to the Creator, who is the truth.

By "those who suffer according to the will of God," Peter means "those who are partakers of the sufferings of Christ," "those who are scourged for His name's sake," and "those who suffer as Christians.

But such persons, Peter affirms, "will overflow with joy when the glory of Christ is revealed" and "the light of glory, the Spirit of God, will dwell in them."

God tells us that there will be tribulation in this world. We are told that there will be unforeseen persecution, especially before the Second Coming.

We are not strong enough to handle such tribulation and persecution, and God knows that.

Therefore, we are now undergoing practical training in surrender to God.

This is not a training so that we can pass God's practical training, but so that we can become aware of God's work in our weakness.

It is a training to keep God always before us.

Good works" means trusting God, surrendering to Him, and letting Him work in our lives, not in our own strength.

We can walk in any situation by keeping our eyes on God.

God is always present in our suffering, encouraging us, healing us, encouraging us, and continuing to give us peace and hope.

Whenever we don't feel it, we can cry out for help with all our might.

God never misses our cries.

God is our guide and our finisher.

God will surely complete the preparation for us to experience suffering in Him.
