Gospel Reflections #370: God Promised Us Restoration!

Isaiah 29:18 “In that day the deaf shall hear even the words that are written in the book and the eyes of the blind shall be lifted out of darkness and blackness, and they shall see."

In God's eternal kingdom, there is a wonderful promise in the physical that the deaf will hear and the blind will see.

We did not have spiritual hearing or spiritual sight in this life.

We have no spiritual ability to connect with God, no matter how physically excellent we are in this world under the influence of sin. This is not a supernatural ability, but a relationship with God that has been severed by sin.

God sent Jesus to us to restore our severed relationship with Him, and through His death on the cross and resurrection, He restored our connection to God.

Believing this, we are led by the Holy Spirit to develop our spiritual hearing, sight, and intellect.

And we are assured that the invisible God is with us, and we are enabled to discern the voice of Jesus, our Shepherd.

Our physical spikes will be made perfect in heaven, and our spiritual maturity is now being prepared by the Holy Spirit here on earth.

In the words of Helen Keller, "Character (spiritual growth) is not born in peace and quiet. Only through trials and suffering can the soul (connection with God) be forged, insight (the work of the Holy Spirit) sharpened, ambition (seeking God) inspired, and success (peace in God) attained.

We are made like God in body, mind, and soul, and we will live forever in peace and joy with God.
