1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know? Your body is a temple in which the Holy Spirit, whom you have received from God, dwells, and you are no longer your own. You have been purchased with a price. Therefore, manifest the glory of God with your bodies."
This is a word that is used like a catchphrase in the church to promote health.
But the verses before and after these verses Paul speaks of sexual immorality.
More specifically, Paul says that our appealing to one another for such misbehavior is in itself a defeat for us.
Since we have received new life through Jesus, Paul is emphasizing that we are not to focus on old customs, common sense, and preferences, but to extend the energy of our new life to the details of our bodies so that the presence of Jesus in us can be seen externally through our bodies.I believe that this is the reason why we must be willing to give up our bad habits.
For this reason, I feel that it is more important for us to build an environment in which God's presence in us can seep outwardly, rather than to give up bad habits, reject bad food, and obtain health by our own efforts.
In other words, it is about surrendering my ego to God, which I cannot do on my own even if I wanted to. That is why we seek God.
Our actions and habits are the result of God's work in us. Without God's work, we cannot do anything right.
In order to create an environment where God can easily work in us, God makes us aware of our real problems in various ways.
We do not have to work hard on our own, but simply receive God's reminders and do the best we can with what and whom God makes us think. And through that, God will create God's chemistry!
