Revelation 1:9 "I am John, your brother, united with Jesus together, in his affliction, dominion, and patience. I was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus."

John was in tribulation until his later years, but in the midst of it all, John experienced God's presence with him. Of course, John had experienced God's presence at all times and in all circumstances, as he had in the past.

When we are with God, we too have peace in our hearts.

John was not given God's peace because he went to the Island of Patmos, but he realized what it means to be with Jesus because he came to know who Jesus is through his life with Jesus.

The more we know who God is, the more our doubts and fears about God disappear and are replaced by peace, confidence, and hope.

It is not that John is wonderful, but that God is so wonderful that He could join John in his captivity.

We, too, can accept God as John did by looking up to God and continuing to seek Him.

God never neglects what we seek.

No matter how unbelieving and inadequate we are, if we look up to God, He will surely respond to us.
