Gospel Reflections #308: In Jesus, Our Resurrection is Sure!

John 5:28-29 "When the time comes, all who are in the tombs will hear the voice of the Son of Man, and those who have done good will be resurrected to receive life, and those who have done evil will be resurrected to come forth to receive judgment."

Those who believe in Jesus and fall asleep before His return will be given resurrection. God will come for us just as He promised. For us, death is sleep. It does not matter how long or short the time is before we hear the voice of Jesus and awaken. We are to be awakened by Jesus just as we sleep at night and wake up in the morning.

Those who have done good are not those who have perfect Christian deeds or many fine services, but those who believe in Jesus, accept Him, and have a heart that wants to follow Him.

Because the Holy Spirit works in that heart, we are led to do deeds and serve in a way that fulfills Jesus' will.

With our hearts purely directed to God, we are made one with Him.

In this world, there is suffering. In this world, we cannot expect rewards for our thoughts and deeds. But God does not overlook them. God knows all our hardships, sufferings, and sorrows. It is at the Second Coming that we will be freed from them.

We still need patience now, but we have been given friends of faith and the Holy Spirit to help us confirm and be convinced of God's promises.

This we should make abundant use of. God has provided us with everything we need. God has prepared everything we need, not to display it, but to use it.

By sharing what we have been made aware of by the Holy Spirit with our friends in faith, we will be united with God's will.
