Gospel Reflections #300: It is not our faithfulness that protects us but the faithfulness of God

Luke 12:11,12 "When you are taken to a synagogue, to an official, or to a person in authority, do not worry about what to say or how to excuse yourself, for the Holy Spirit will tell you at that time what to say. What you should say, the Holy Spirit will tell you then."

Even when we are not in this scriptural situation, we think about publicity and strategy when we evangelize.

We tend to think in the moment, looking at the other person's reaction, whether we should push harder or take a backhanded approach, and then we say, do, or act accordingly.

We tend to think of ways to help ourselves.

Why is this?

Maybe somewhere in our minds we think that doing well is what God would approve of.

God is responsible for our lives. God shows us that if we have a problem, we can bring it to Him.

God is able to meet the needs of each of us at any time.
God is there for us in our weakness.

God has given us a helper, the Holy Spirit, so we can rely on Him from one to ten.

God is the one who makes it look like we did it.

The more we learn about who our God is, the more we see that He lets us speak through our mouths when we need it and acts with our hands and feet when we need it.

This does not mean that we are made to be God's puppets, but that we become one with Him.

God is boldly at work in our mundane, everyday lives. Let us be bold to indulge the Holy Spirit!

It is not your faithfulness that protects you, but the Holy Spirit Himself.
