Matthew 9:13 "Go and learn what it means, "I seek mercy, not sacrifice. I have not come to invite the righteous, but to imitate sinners."
To those who come to Jesus for healing, He has compassion on them and heals them. The scribes, seeing this, were judging in their hearts.
The scribes were also judging Jesus in their hearts when they saw Him eating with Matthew the tax collector.
It was then that Jesus spoke these words.
Jesus is not looking for people who do good deeds for themselves, but for people who do some thought or deed for others.
Jesus did not come to look for someone who tries to be a good person himself, but to heal someone who knows his own sinfulness, and he came to look for us so that we can think the same way about others as he does, so that we can be there for them, so that we can rest, so that we can fill our hearts with loveHe came to fill our hearts with love.
We don't have to be good sinners ourselves, but we can go to Jesus as no-good sinners and let Him immerse us in His love.
Jesus knows all about us and is looking for us.
If we knew who Jesus is, we would surely want to run to him.
Our God is a God who searches for us as we are, and when He finds us, He is willing to bring us home.
Let us boldly raise the banner of "sos" to God so that He will find us quickly.
