2 Corinthians 4:8-10 "is a We are "afflicted on every side, yet not brought to a standstill; we are at our wits' end, yet not disappointed; we are oppressed, yet not forsaken; we are struck down, yet not destroyed. We are always clothed with the death of Jesus, that His life may be manifested in this body."
Jesus also tells us that there will be tribulation in this world.
The tribulation comes upon us, but it falls on our physical bodies, or rather, on the outside of our bodies, and while we certainly feel the pain, the tribulation does not fall on our hearts. Because we receive the outward events with our emotions, the affliction enters our hearts.
I believe that Jesus suffered all the tribulations we experience, but instead of receiving them emotionally, he entrusted their meaning to God and chose God's promises in his thoughts.
The windows of heaven are already open to us.
We may suffer when the world suffers, but God is with us in our suffering, and when we are at our wits' end, God heals us, encourages us, and helps us to stand. And even when the world oppresses us, God treats us as His children and worthy.
Because of God's presence in us, no matter how much we are attacked from without, our hearts are filled with peace in His love. And that will be our hope and joy!
