1 Peter 2:21 "This is why you have been called. For Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example to follow in his footsteps."
Christ took our sins upon Himself on the cross so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. Through His wounds, we were healed.
But that is not to make us follow Christ. It is only because Christ loved us.
We may have been given Christ's righteousness, but we cannot respond to God's call or follow His example unless we are raised in His love.
We can be matured in God's love by tasting, accepting, rejoicing, and sharing in that love. Our faith is matured by God through being with Him as our greatest peace, hope, and joy.
We need to be filled with God's love before we can work here and there for Him.
We are called to share the love of Christ.
As Christ continues to pour out His unconditional love for us, we are to share the love we have received from Him in the way He did.
Christ's way is to be forgiving, merciful, and healing. We can only share with others what Christ has done for us.
So we need Christ to do a lot for us and fill us up, or we don't know what to do at all.
Rather than working for Christ, let us look to fully know what He has done for us, receive it, and rejoice in it. Then Christ will work in our hearts and we will thereby represent Him.
Without the love of Christ, all is nothing!
