Exodus 20:10 "On the seventh day you shall not do any work, for it is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. The same is true for you, your sons, your daughters, your slaves, male and female, your cattle, and those who sojourn within the gates of your cities."

This is part of what the Word says about the fourth of the Ten Commandments.

Why did God establish the Sabbath? Why does He tell us not to work?

God did not want to rest after creation. Nor did God establish the Sabbath only to remind mankind of the anniversary of creation.

I believe that God wanted to share His creation with us, His creatures, to rejoice and be with us.

God wants to share his joy with all that he has made. He wants us to see that He is always with us.

He knows that we are quick to forget and quick to leave His side.

That is why God not only wants us to remember Him regularly, but also to help us remember who He is and what He has done for us through our fellowship with Him.

All we can do is receive what God is preparing for us and rejoice in what we receive.

And on the Sabbath, by rejoicing in God in His family and sharing what He has done for us, we can confirm and share who our God is and grow in faith.

God has provided for all our needs, so on the Sabbath we can rest assured that we are not doing our daily work and can enjoy being with Him and with His family.

The Sabbath is not a day when we are not allowed to work, but a memorial day to know God's love that allows us to experience what a hope and blessing it is for us to experience the peace and joy of being with God and with God's family, because our lives are protected without our work.

By choosing the Sabbath, God immerses you in His love and matures your faith.

So the Sabbath is a gift of love that God has prepared for our re-creation.
