Exodus 31:16 "The people of Israel are to keep the Sabbath day and make it an everlasting covenant from generation to generation."

God's covenant with us sinners is His unilateral covenant.

God knows that we are not fit to be a covenant partner, and He has made a unilateral covenant with us.

More than that, God has made a covenant with us after fulfilling all the terms of the covenant.

The Sabbath is the anniversary of redemption and salvation for the Israelites. For mankind, the Sabbath is also the anniversary of creation.

God does not make a covenant with us because we keep the Sabbath, but because He has already made a covenant with us and fulfilled the terms of the covenant, and He wants us to remember it and enjoy fellowship with Him with joy.

An eternal covenant is a relationship between God and us.

We are to deepen our relationship with God by remembering week by week what He has done for us, rejoicing together and confirming who our God is, and He will never break His covenant with us unless we let go of it.

Our God is the same God who is and always will be. Because God loves us, He has unilaterally made a covenant with us, taking all the responsibility and sacrifices.

If you ask, you will be able to touch and taste this love of God, and you will be included in the eternal covenant.
