Luke 14:28-30 "Who among you, when he is about to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate whether he has enough money to build it? If not, he will only have laid the foundation but will not be able to complete it, and all those who were watching will mock and say, "He began to build, but he could not finish it."
I think this is a message that adequate planning is necessary, but when we think about our missions, there are various types of people who rush forward only with passion, or who think too much and fail to even take action.
I believe that what Jesus is saying here is about "completion."
I think Jesus is telling us what we need to do in order to finish our work, not on the spur of the moment, not with an idea, not with a passionate feeling, but to finish it without hesitation.
The word "cost" is used in this scripture, but I feel that the "cost" here is not only our thoughts, but also how we can harmonize them with God's will and be used in God's work in unity with His power.
We are easily heated and easily awakened. And if we run with our thoughts alone, we will become exhausted.
We cannot testify or experience God's work unless we first sit down and consult with God about our thoughts and feelings.
It is God who will complete the work.
There is nothing wrong with having ideals and big dreams, but if we do not proceed with our plans in unity with God, they will remain mere human works.
Let us sit down and calculate with God, who has nothing that we cannot do.
