Matthew 2:13 "Behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph and said to him, "Behold!"
God's communication is direct and sometimes urgent. After the wise men left, the angel of the Lord said to Joseph, "Arise, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you. Herod is going to find the child and kill him. And Joseph obeyed immediately during the night.
God did not lead Joseph because he was faithful or obedient. God is speaking to us and leading us to ensure the fulfillment of God's plan. He is leading us so that we can choose His plan.
Even if we are not great Christians, if we are willing to do God's will, He will reveal His will to us in many ways and lead us to follow His will. Joseph immediately obeyed the word of the Lord's messenger. Joseph could have wanted to stay a little longer in Bethlehem, where he had finally arrived. But he also felt the urgency of God's word.
I think it was because he had established communication with God.
Not because Joseph was a great believer, not because he was an obedient Christian, but because Joseph simply believed that God was leading them and protecting them, so he could hear God's voice and respond to it.
God is faithful in guiding His children. God is constantly speaking to us
