Gospel Reflection #496: The Power That Comes From God

Romans 1:17 The Gospel is the revelation of God's righteousness, which is realized through faith from the beginning to the end. As it says, "The just shall live by faith."

Paul says that the "gospel" is the "power of God" that brings salvation to all who believe.

The gospel is not a philosophy that we systematically understand and accept as a creed, but it is a "power" that comes from God, a power to save us from our sins.

And it does not come by our efforts, achievements, or good deeds, but by our "belief in the power of God".

The righteous are not those who do what we humans judge to be right, but those who simply accept and obey everything God does, saying, "So be it.

All human beings can only have a relationship with God through faith.

We do not know how to establish a relationship with the invisible God, so we try to establish a relationship with God by our own actions so that we can respond to ourselves.

Even if this were possible, it would be completely meaningless to our relationship with God.

Righteousness by faith" means that we are such sinners and can't even do good, but we believe that Jesus is able to remake us and deepen our relationship with Him, and by relying on God, accepting what He puts before us, and working with Him to deal with it, God is able to. We are to be confident that God will perfect us as His children.

Righteousness by faith" means that we are not justified by our faith, but we are justified by Jesus through our faith in Him and in His work.
