(A series in the book of Isaiah: Chapter 12)

Do you understand what trusting God really mean? I thought I always trust God.

However, I was mistaken. I run to Him not because I trust Him but because I see that HE will do something. There is already something in my mind that I want God to do in the situation.

So, I go to Him in earnest prayer and saying I trust that God will do something.

Then one day, this principle was tested and proven wrong. The situation has exposed the real intent of my heart. What I really do is just tell God. I just tell Him to do something for my difficult situation. Isn’t that strange that I thought I was trusting God in my difficulties, I thought I am putting my trust in Him? Yes, I run to Him to tell Him to do something. I run to Him thinking that He has done to others with a similar situation as I am so maybe He should also do it with my difficulty. With this perspective, I am misunderstanding what trusting God really is.

So, what then is trusting God in our difficulty? Trusting God from a different perspective is as simple as being still; it is as simple as not doing anything; it is as simple as believing that God knows what is best for your circumstance. Trusting is believing that in everything God always thinks for your good. It is being convicted of the truth that God is for you and not against you. It is being convinced that God sees what you are going through. You don’t even have to ask because you know that HE IS GOD and you are HIS CHILD.

Isaiah chapter 12 is a profound chapter that tells us of a victory song, a salvation song that God’s people would sing. It is a song of those who chose to trust God and praised God not because God did what they thought God should do in their situation but rather letting God do what He thinks best for their situation. It is God’s prophecy for those who will stay and trust what God can do, is doing, and will do for His people. Isaiah 12:1-6 say, In that day you will say:

“I will praise you, Lord.

Although you were angry with me,

your anger has turned away

and you have comforted me.

2 Surely God is my salvation;

I will trust and not be afraid.

The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense[a];

he has become my salvation.”

3 With joy you will draw water

from the wells of salvation.

4 In that day you will say:

“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;

make known among the nations what he has done,

and proclaim that his name is exalted.

5 Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things;

let this be known to all the world.

6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,

for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”

God promised in this chapter that for those who would believe in Him their ending is praise and worship to the works of God. The ending of those who would be with God until the end despite the rugged and tough journey would surely be on a victorious and praising side. His people will praise Him in the very end. His people will proclaim the good works of God’s hands. Not because His people thought what is best for them but because they allowed God to do what HE THINKS BEST FOR THEM.

We have a God who already secured our future rejoicing with the works of His hands and the victories He has already won. God always thinks about what is best for you.

This is when trust becomes praise and worship. All we are left to do in the end is worship Him whose love we don't deserve.
