(A series in the book of Isaiah: Chapter 27)
Isaiah chapter 27 is very beautiful. Why? It is beautiful in the way of reasoning it projects in the chapter. Try to look at the arguments in verses 6-7,
6In days to come Jacob will take root,
Israel will bud and blossom
and fill all the world with fruit.
Verse 6 narrates the promise of God’s deliverer. God announces in this chapter like other previous chapters that Israel, God’s children will have its deliver who will establish its grounds and this will make all their suffering and hardship as a door for their deliverer to come. With the coming deliverer who will establish His fruit of righteousness into the whole world, their suffering turned to be the saving grace.
In contrast to the suffering turned out the salvation of God’s people there is the total destruction of the glory, pomp, and pride of the oppressing nations. God promised that oppression will never win over the plans of God. God did not plan to destroy, He planned to save. However, with the presence of evil, many are influence to choose the destructive choice to leave God’s vineyard.
And despite this conscious rebellion of God’s governance, in all those years He only allowed the consequences happened but see here in verse 7,
7 Has the Lord struck her
as he struck down those who struck her?
Has she been killed
as those were killed who killed her?
Your answer would probably echo with me, it is a “NO”. Her/she there means God’s people. They are supposed to be a light to the evil nation that will be oppressing them. They are to put on the banner of God’s love. God will not destroy them like how He will vanish evil in the end. God promised that no matter what He will continue to do His good plans for His children. All His children who will remain in Him, even with faith just like a mustard seed, God will do His best to save them. They will not be struck like how the evil nations will finally be gone forever.
Friends, we may ask why are we in a very difficult time.
We may ask what’s wrong with our faith.
We may ask why is it seems that evil is winning and nobody is on your side.
This fact stands true and strong that in Christ the fruit of our suffering will be victory and never destruction.
