1 Samuel 17:50 "David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a single stone; he struck the Philistine and killed him. David had no sword in his hand."

This records the decisive moment when David triumphed over the giant Goliath.

David gathered five smooth stones, but used only one.

This emphasises not only David's skill, but the divine assistance behind him and his unwavering faith.

The phrase "he had no sword in his hand" indicates this victory was not achieved by human strength (swords or spears), but "in the name of the Lord of hosts". This fulfils the declaration in verse 47: "The battle is the Lord's".

The 'slingshot' David employed was an everyday tool he used daily as a shepherd to protect his flock from wild beasts.

It was not a special weapon; rather, God used what he already possessed to bring about a great victory.

The narrative of an unarmed youth defeating a fully armed giant teaches that true strength lies not in visible circumstances (size, weaponry) but in trust in the unseen God.

When God calls us, He provides everything we need.

He allows us to experience His work not in safe spaces, but in areas involving risk.

Moreover, what God provides is not something extraordinary, but what is cultivated in our everyday lives.
