Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

This is a very famous verse singing of "God's revelation through the natural world".

This passage contains three main important meanings.

① It teaches that even without special religious knowledge, simply observing the vast universe and the beauty of nature allows one to perceive the existence and greatness of an 'intelligent Designer (God)'.

② As verse 3 states, 'without speech or words', the heavens and stars do not utter human language. However, their very 'existence itself' is interpreted as powerfully proclaiming the splendour of God's creation to the whole earth.

Through this psalm, David urges us not to worship the visible creations (the heavens and sun) themselves, but to turn our gaze to the 'hand (power) of God' that made them.

We too should pause, not be swept along by what is before us, turn our eyes to nature, and look up to God.

Surely, God speaks to us when we halt our usual flow and lift our eyes to the heavens.

Today, let us once more delight in conversing with God through nature.
