Gospel Reflections #878: Citizens of Heaven

1 Corinthians 15:47 "The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven."

Adam, as humanity's representative, succumbed to sin.

But God did not leave it at that.

He never gave up on us until the very end, doing everything to restore us.

The ultimate expression of this is Jesus.

He laid aside all His authority as the heavenly Ruler, became human, came to us, and took our place as the substitute for our sins.

Though Jesus became human, He is the One belonging to heaven.

To bridge heaven and earth, it had to be accomplished by One belonging to both.

God foresaw all this and loved us to the very end.

We who are connected to Jesus are also made heavenly beings.

Now is the time when the Holy Spirit is training us to become worthy of this.

In Jesus, let us take our first step as heavenly beings.
