Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
God knows everything about us.
No matter how much we try to hide it, God knows.
God knows even the things we gloss over without realizing it.
The inhabitants of heaven observe whether our words and actions align.
They watch how those who believe in God and are saved live their lives afterward.
Above all, the inhabitants of heaven observe which direction we turn on the Sabbath.
Both God and the inhabitants of heaven observe whether we truly spend the Sabbath with heartfelt gratitude and joy, or merely attend worship out of obligation.
Despite knowing all our weaknesses, excuses, and justifications, God has mercy on us and shows us kindness. He works to sever us from the old values and worldly appearances that cling to us.
We might perceive such a God as "severe," but God cannot bear to abandon us to perish with our sins if we treat them lightly.
"God's sword" is proof of His earnest concern for us.
God absolutely will not choose to give up on us, abandon us, or forsake us.
