1 Peter 2:6 "Behold, I lay in Zion a chosen, precious cornerstone."
This is a quotation from Isaiah 28:16.
It is a Messianic prophecy, where God promised to place the chosen One, the precious cornerstone, in Jerusalem and Israel.
The Messiah is likened to a stone, especially a cornerstone, because He is stable, dependable, and stands firm even when earthquakes strike.
If we trust in Him, we will never be disappointed.
Therefore, He is precious to us who trust in Him, but to those who do not trust, He is "the stone the builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone," and "a stone that causes people to stumble, a rock that makes them fall."
Through knowing Jesus, we come to truly appreciate the value of this cornerstone.
Knowing Jesus is the blessing of a journey—looking up to Him, seeking Him, conversing with Him, and following Him in our own lives and circumstances.
God pours out His grace upon all humanity, but whether we receive it as a blessing or ignore it as worthless is entirely up to us.
Our God is one who gives when we ask, so let us ask boldly and abundantly!
